At Risk Youth Programs
At risk youth programs can sometimes be hard to assess. One is never really sure if a
specific program will be able to meet their needs or provide the support they are looking
for. When a family is dealing with a crisis they want to know that are doing the right
thing by working with an at risk youth program.
Summit Achievement is an alternative rehabilitation school. It is fully licensed as a
residential treatment center along with licenses to work with drug and alcohol abuse,
they are academically certified to allow easily transferable credits and every therapist
on site has at minimum, their Master Degree. Their program is a level based program, with
6 six levels. A level per week is expected to be completed, but there are common situations
where it can take up to 8 weeks to complete the program. Each level is designed to deal
with a specific issue such as leadership, responsibility and organization.
These at risk youth programs are a hybrid of wilderness therapy, group, individual, and
familial counseling and traditional schooling. Summit believes that this mixture is the
best way to get their students to face decisions they may have made involving promiscuity,
depression theft, drug use and attitude problem and accept them while moving on.
Summit Achievement deals with a number of issues facing teens and takes their role of
rehabilitating them and putting families back together very seriously. They want to
empower teens to make their lives better.
One way the staff does
this is by setting up students in small groups to work together as
they take on therapeutic and wilderness challenges. By having newcomers, those who
are in the middle of their journey and those who are about to graduate work together
it allows students to grow faster, while allowing the graduates to act as mentors. Here
at Summit Achievement, everyone has something to give and teach and that is a very
important virtue for a teen to learn. As soon as they are able to start loving themselves
and realize their own personal gifts, the sooner they can begin to heal and work towards
a better future. Parental involvement is vital to the success of a student's time at
Summit and is strongly encouraged as well.
Summit Achievement differentiates itself from most at risk youth programs because of
how extensive and personal their programs are. Their wilderness therapy approach paired
with the extensive licensing in therapy and academics ensures the success for any student.
They are well equipped to provide the care and attention and support any family is looking
for during a crisis.
