SASS students are young men and women between the ages of 13 and 19 who have been asked to take a short-term suspension or a “time out” from their school. Usually, the suspension is for violating school rules or policies. Our students are bright, engaging, with many strengths and a promising future. However they may also exhibit some of the following characteristics:
- Poor decision making
- Impulsivity
- Susceptibility to negative peer pressure
- Drug or alcohol experimentation
- Computer/internet misuse
- Poor school attendance
- Social alienation
- Poor school performance
- ADD/ADHD or LD
We do not enroll students who we think are likely to be disruptive to our community.
We do not enroll students with the following issues:
- Risk of danger to self or others
- Schizophrenia, anti social, conduct disorder, psychosis
- Active Eating disorders
Certain medical conditions may be exclusionary.
